Good to know

This horseback archery retreat is for horse riders with previous riding experience who are comfortable in walktrot and canter, who are confident letting go of the reins, who can control their horse in all gates and tack/untack their horses independently. No previous archery experience is required

When shooting from the ground, all participants can shoot at the same time. However, during horseback shooting, riders take turns. This allows the horses to rest and gives participants the opportunity to observe others, learn from watching, and improve their technique.

Archery equipment is provided, including composite bows, carbon fiber arrows, and a selection of hip, back, and Mamluk-style quivers. We also provide riding helmets and all necessary tack for the horses.

Horse tack is provided, most of our riding is done using barefoot/treeless saddles.

Eva, the coach, will decide each day which horse each rider will be assigned. Please make sure to inform us in advance about your riding experience, horse preferences, and weight so that Eva can make appropriate assignments on the first day. During your stay, you are welcome to let Eva know if you would like to try a specific horse.

Please note that the weight limit is 90kg.

Meals will be balanced, featuring seasonal vegetables with some French-Lappish-inspired dishes. While not every meal includes meat, a vegetarian option is always available, and guests with strict dietary requirements such as lactose intolerance or severe allergies should inquire before booking.

All participants are required to have valid travel insurance for the duration of the trip. Your insurance must explicitly cover horse riding and any related activities to ensure full protection during your stay.

Participants are responsible for ensuring they meet all entry requirements for travel to Finland and the wider Schengen Area. This includes checking visa requirements (if applicable) and making sure their passport is valid for the duration of their stay, as well as any additional validity requirements set by their country of citizenship or the destination authorities.

We strongly recommend that participants verify all travel documentation well in advance of departure, as requirements may vary depending on nationality and individual circumstances.

Teaching language is English (or Finnish). Possibilities for French translations.

Closest Airport is Rovaniemi (RVN). Closest train station is Rovaniemi.

Minors are welcome if accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. For safety and legal reasons, we do not accept unaccompanied minors. Non-riders are welcome to accompany a rider. A separate cottage can be arranged for an additional fee, and a special rate is available when sharing a cottage with a rider.
